New Development to Move to Erie

A developer with plans to build one of the largest residential housing developments on the Front Range in recent years obtained critical funding for the project Thursday, putting Erie at the forefront of a potential market rebound following years of declining home sales and housing starts in Colorado.

Boulder Demographic Profile for 2011

The Economic Profile report provides a detailed summary of information on the city's population, employment, GDP, Cost of living, retail sales activity, commercial and residential real estate markets, venture capital investment, and tourism compiles from a number of sources.  The Economic Indicators Report provides a snapshot of key economic measure.  The full reports are available at http://www.bouldereconomiccouncil.org/publications/ and are generally updated quarterly.  Here are some of the highlights.
Demographic Profile Highlights
  • An estimated 103,606 people live in Boulder including approximately 20,815 CU students
  • 34% of Boulder County's population lives in the city of Boulder.
  • The median age of Boulder residents is 26 years, significantly younger hen the US medium age of 36.8 years.  Forty percent of the city's adult population is between 18 and 24 compared to the national average of 13%.
  • Boulder has the highest percent of residents who have completed a bachelor's degree among all metropolitan areas in the country.  72% have earned a bachelor's or advanced degree, 2.5 times the US average of 28%
  • The majority of working residents in Boulder are employed in white collar positions.  Over half work in the professional or managerial occupations, compared to just over one third of US workers.  The Boulder area has a particularly high concentration of workers int he computer, mathematical, scientific, architectural and engineering occupations. 
  • The median family income is significantly higher then the state and national averages

Conoco Phillips Asking for more time to submit development plan

As many of you are aware Conoco Phillips purchased a large portion of land in Louisville and will be looking to bring on of their head quarters to Colorado.  Here is an update on the plans...

ConocoPhillips say it plans to ask the City of Louisville for a one-year extension to file the final plans for its Boulder County campus.  The Houston based energy company purchased the 400 plus acre former Storage Technology camput off U.S. 36 in 2008.  Now company offiicails indicate they intend to submit an extension request in early Gebruary that could reach City Council for approval in March.

Any new updates will be posted once council has decided on the extension.
